Bernardo Silva wants Manchester City to take the game to Manchester United in this weekend’s derby.

The Portuguese midfielder believes playing the game on the front foot will be important if we are to take all three points in the 186th edition of the famous fixture.

Doing so will no doubt cause Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men problems in defence, but Bernardo also feels that showcasing our usual attacking intent can restrict the Reds’ threat in the final third as we look to return to winning ways in the Premier League.

“I think mostly controlling the game with the ball, because we know how dangerous they are,” he told mancity.com when asked what City must do to win the game.

“With players like Cavani and Ronaldo and when they have chances, they’re lethal. They don’t need much space to score.

“The only way to avoid them creating chances is with the ball, is having the ball as much as we can and trying to put them in the final third to try to prevent the counter-attacks as much as possible.

“So yeah, we’re going to try and be as focused as we can to do that and win the game.”

City’s No.20 also discussed why it is important to play for the fans, how this fixtures differs to other derbies he has played and our recent form.
