The linchpin in the centre of City’s midfield, Rodrigo played 33 times as we successfully defended our Premier League title.
In his third season at the Etihad Stadium, the 26-year-old was pivotal both in and out of possession for Pep Guardiola‘s side.
Much of his work happens between the defence and attack, linking the two in combination with the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva alongside him.
However, one of his standout moments was a superhuman block to deny Liverpool’s Fabinho in the October draw at Anfield.
With an open goal in front of the Brazilian, Rodri covered several yards in a fraction of a second to get in the way of his goalbound strike.
While it isn’t what he is in the team for, the Spaniard also chipped in high up the pitch with seven goals including stunners against Watford and Everton and the vital equaliser on the final day against Aston Villa.
