John Stones was full of compliments for his team-mate Phil Foden who scored City’s winning goal in our 1-0 Premier League triumph over Bournemouth.

Foden scored his ninth Premier League goal in 26 appearances, taking his tally to 16 in all competitions in a stint where City fans are seeing the boy from Stockport flaunt some of his best football.

City defender Stones was also in fine form at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday evening, playing the entirety of the match and aided heavily in City’s eighth league clean of the campaign.

But the 29-year-old was too busy praising Foden’s performance over Bournemouth to provide an assessment of himself in his hybrid role as he helped extend City’s unbeaten run to 17 in all competitions.

“He’s incredible. I don’t have more to say about him,” said Stones when asked about Foden.

“Everything just comes so easy to him. He’s a joy to watch, a joy to play with and I think about how he’s playing at the minute and I’m sure he’s enjoying himself.

“He’s obviously scoring winning goals and contributing to the team massively and he’s been incredible for us and I’m sure he will be for a long time.”

Stones also spoke about City’s tenacity to hold out for a vital clean sheet and fight hard for each other for an intense 90 minutes of football.
