Joao Cancelo has heaped praise on Phil Foden after the pair combined superbly to score City's first goal of a comfortable 5-1 win over Club Brugge.

Foden‘s inch-perfect pass found Cancelo inside the box and the Portuguese did the rest, calmly poking through Simon Mignolet’s legs to give City the lead on the half-hour mark.

Further strikes from Riyad Mahrez (2), Kyle Walker and Cole Palmer saw City coast to three points in matchday three of the UEFA Champions League group stages.

Cancelo had nothing but praise for Foden after the victory.

“It was a great pass from Phil [Foden],” he said. “He is a fantastic player and it was a fantastic pass. I’m not surprised about his pass.

“He is a great talent and has a lot of skills. He is one of the best young players I’ve played with. He has a promising future and will be one of the best in the world.

“It was a very special night for all of us, for me as well. The most important thing is the team.”
