Joao Cancelo has expressed his determination to help City's cause by admitting that he will even play as a goalkeeper if Pep Guardiola asks him to do so.

The versatile Portuguese, who has spent a majority of his career as a right-back, has found recent success for City at left-back, proven by his goal and assist during the 4-0 Premier League victory over Southampton.

He opened the scoring at the Etihad after 20 minutes with a wonderful run and shot into the far corner, before Phil Foden doubled the lead.

Cancelo was again involved as Riyad Mahrez volleyed our third, before the full-back’s drilled cross found Erling Haaland to make it 4-0.

The 28-year-old is passionate to continue being successful at City, so much so that he would even play as a goalkeeper if requested.

“I’m always happy when we score and even happier when we win,” he said.

“Yeah, It’s true I can play in two positions and I feel comfortable in both, right and left. I played more advanced today but as I say I’m comfortable in both right back and left back.

“I always try to help the team wherever the team need me, even if the manager asks me to be a goalkeeper I can also do it! I always try to do my best and try to help the team to achieve the targets.”
