To mark National Careers week Manchester City’s Scott Carson and Rico Lewis surprised a City in the Community, City Careers participant.

National Careers Week ran from Monday, March 6 to Sunday March 12 with the aim to provide a focus for careers guidance activity at an important stage in the academic calendar to help support young people develop awareness and excitement about their future pathways.

In celebration of the week, City players Scott Carson and Rico Lewis surprised City Careers participant, Olivia.

Olivia believed she was taking part in an interview about her experience on the City Careers programme, however, Carson and Lewis surprised Olivia by walking in and conducting part of her interview.

City Careers is an eight-week employability programme, working in areas of deprivation to provide health and education benefits, with the aim of supporting young people in education and employment.

Over the duration of the course, participants work with CITC staff and external partners, on a series of employability workshops, with a focus on developing soft skills such as CV and cover letter writing, interview practice and how to approach job interviews.

There is also the opportunity to gain qualifications, such as ASDAN Level 1 Award in Employability Skills, First Aid Qualification, as well as Food Hygiene and Sale2Site Online CSCS qualifications.
