Shea Charles has hailed his City debut as a 'dream come true' after the youngster played the final 30 minutes of our 1-0 Premier League defeat against Brentford.

Charles has been with the club since Under-9 level and has risen through the ranks to now make his first-team debut under Pep Guardiola.

The defensive midfielder, who can also operate in defence, captained our EDS side to Premier League 2 glory this season.

The 19-year-old replaced Nathan Ake just after the half-hour mark at the Gtech Community Stadium for his Premier League debut and was elated after his appearance.

“It’s a very proud moment for me,” he declared.

“I’m a City fan growing up so it’s a dream come true really. It’s a great experience in that sort of game to make my debut.

“It gives us all the confidence in the younger age groups that Pep is giving us these chances.

“To see four of us [academy graduates] on the pitch and a couple of us on the bench, it’s great to see. I’m sure all the others can get confidence from that.

“He [Guardiola] was just giving me the confidence I needed to go and perform as well as I can.
