Manchester City fell to a 2-1 defeat in an end to end game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, that saw our Premier League title defence officially come to an end.

Willian’s 78th minute penalty settled the game in Chelsea’s favour and confirmed Liverpool as champions.

The spot kick was awarded after Fernandinho had handled the ball on the goal line, with Willian calmly sending Ederson the wrong way from 12-yards.

City were well in what was, at times, a chaotic game up until that point. Christian Pulisic capitalised on a Benjamin Mendy mistake to give the hosts the lead, but Kevin De Bruyne equalised with a sublime 30-yard free-kick that rocketed into the top left corner.

But for the woodwork, Raheem Sterling would have put City ahead after that, whilst Kyle Walker made a fantastic goal line clearance to deny Pulisic in a frantic second half.

Fernandinho attempted to do the same after Ederson had clawed away Tammy Abraham’s volley, but the defender clearly used his hand to keep the ball out, which allowed Willian to win the game for Frank Lampard’s side.
