Manchester City’s defence of the Premier League title officially came to end as we fell to a 2-1 defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Willian’s penalty 12 minutes from time proved the difference, as he sent Ederson the wrong way after Fernandinho was sent off for a handball on the goal line.

Earlier in the second half, Kevin De Bruyne had scored a sensational 30-yard free-kick to restore parity after Chelsea had gone in ahead at the break thanks to Christian Pulisic’s breakaway goal.

The American capitalised on Benjamin Mendy’s error to open the scoring, but City, who had been the better side up until that point, regrouped and came out fighting in the second half.

In a frenetic second period, Raheem Sterling hit the post after De Bruyne’s equaliser, whilst Kyle Walker made a superb goal line clearance to deny Pulisic a second.

Fernandinho attempted the same to keep out Tammy Abraham, but the Brazilian clearly used his hand to keep the ball out, which allowed Willian to dispatch the winner into the top left corner and confirm Liverpool as champions.
