Pep Guardiola says he will have one eye on Sunday's FA Cup quarter-final against Newcastle United when he names his team for tomorrow's game at Chelsea.

With Champions League qualification close to being sealed and Liverpool poised to win the Premier League, the City boss confirmed that the two remaining cup competitions his side are still in are the priority.

City face a tough trip to St James’ Park on Sunday evening and the Champions League will resume in August.

“We cannot deny we have one eye on Newcastle,” said Pep.

“Chelsea is a prestigious game for us, but Newcastle is a final.

“The team selection will depend on physical condition of the players.

“We take a look at what will come next, not just the game against Chelsea.”

Commenting on his team’s impressive 3-0 win over Arsenal and 5-0 win over Burnley, the boss suggested that there is more to come from his team.

“Yeah, but still the team is not fit.

“I don’t know when we will be fit perfectly to play every three days.

“We have some kicks after the game, which is normal. You have to see day by day how we can avoid injuries.

“We have to handle the situation, qualify mathematically for Champions League and that is what we have to do.”
