Manchester City’s charity has released its Annual Report for the 2024/25 season, showcasing City in the Community’s (CITC) impactful work.

The report marks the end of City in the Community’s 22-25 three-year strategy and includes the charity’s first ever social value announcement.

In 2024/25, CITC generated an estimated £43.7 million in social value, equating to £11.45 of social benefit for every £1 invested.

Commenting on the charity’s social value announcement, CITC’s CEO, Mike Geary, said:

“Using a Social Return on Investment framework, which aligns with the UK Treasury’s Greenbook values and Social Value Principles, we’ve measured the broader wellbeing impact of our programmes beyond the pitch.

“While these figures are conservative and likely underestimate the true, long-term economic impact of our work, they are a great starting point and help us tell the story of our impact in a new way.

“This achievement not only demonstrates the power of football, but also tangibly underscores the economic and social return created through our collective effort.”

The final year of CITC’s three-year strategy saw the charity deliver 20 programmes to more than 17,000 participants, achieving an average contact time of 23.4 hours per participant.

These efforts translated into 295,256 aggregate attendances, 840 qualifications gained, and 20,496 hours of delivery, underscoring the charity’s commitment to creating sustained, meaningful connections.

In another first, CITC has released an ‘Annual Report Show’ which sees the charity’s Impact and Quality team break down 2024/25 findings, as well introduce members of its new ‘Youth Panel’.

Remarking on the new report, CITC’s Head of Operations, Lisa McKay, added:

“This report offers a moment to reflect with pride on the impact we have achieved together – impact that would not be possible with support from partners and supporters.

“We are pleased to see that all out outcomes have improved by at least 2% versus 23/24, as well as an uplift in participants reached and qualifications.

“I am also extremely proud of the additional stories in this report and hope that our stakeholders will enjoy reading about local people who are at the heart of soul of City in the Community.”
