Club partners, supporters and friends of the Foundation came together at Stockport Golf Club on Thursday 27th May to help raise funds for a new mental health project.
Four-ball teams made their way around the sun-basked course, before enjoying food and drink, along with the opportunity to further support CITC through auctions and a ‘beat the pro’ challenge.
The event was sponsored by The Electric Broker, which specialises in funding and sourcing environmentally conscious assets for businesses.
Chris Brown, Managing Director, said: “At our company we do similar charity events, so getting involved with City in the Community’s golf day appealed to us straight away.
“I know that they do a lot of work in their community, so there’s a very good synergy, and when you can raise money whilst doing business, it’s just great!
“Today has been very enjoyable – it’s great to be introduced to new businesses, so it’s a win, win for everybody.”
Congratulations also must go to The Electric Broker, who walked away with the trophy!
Ex-Manchester City player, Paul Lake, is a regular attendee.
He added: “Today has been brilliant – the weather has been great; the course was magnificent, and I enjoyed seeing everyone again.
“I’d like to thank everybody who has come down to support the event and put their teams in.
“City in the Community, for me, is the best. I’ve seen first-hand what they do in Manchester and abroad as well. It’s fantastic what they give back and it’s always great to be a part of it.”
Every penny raised from the day will support CITC’s new City Thrive programme, which aims to aid positive mental health for young people aged 14 – 25.
A dedicated team has developed a new mental health curriculum, blending specially adapted football sessions with one-to-one mentoring and group workshops on mental health awareness, to improve mental wellbeing.
Additionally, specific mental health themed football sessions will be delivered from youth clubs across Manchester, enabling participants to enjoy physical activity whilst also accessing the benefits of one-to-one mentoring and group workshops.
City Thrive was developed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, as the long-term impact on children’s mental health was highlighted as a major concern amongst carers and parents.
Everyone at City in the Community would like to express our gratitude to all ‘Blues on the Green’ supports and partners, with special thanks to The Electric Broker.
