To celebrate International Day of Youth, the Club’s charity, City in the Community (CITC), has launched a new video showcasing its Kicks programme.

The short film features participants and CITC coaches, who all provide an insight into how Kicks sessions are helping to empower healthier lives through football in Greater Manchester.

Outreach Manager, Niamh Nolan, said: “The Kicks programme aims to give young people pro-social activities that they can engaged in, as well as giving CITC coaches the opportunity to do some really powerful youth work with the young people in the local areas in Manchester.

“The programme offers young people the opportunity to take part in football sessions, youth voice activities, multi-sports, including swimming, gym and indoor football across multiple locations.”

Former Kicks participant and now part-time Kicks coach, Tom, said: “Kicks has 110% changed everything about my life could have been.”

Sessions are currently delivered at youth zones, leisure centres and football pitches across Greater Manchester.

Premier League Kicks has supported hundreds of thousands of young people to achieve their potential and improve their wellbeing through free weekly football sessions and educational workshops.

Premier League Kicks began in the 2006/07 season in partnership with the Metropolitan Police, with the aim of involving and supporting young people in regular, positive, and fun activity, whilst helping to create stronger, safer, more inclusive communities.

To date, the Premier League has invested almost £66 million in Kicks.

Since it began, more than 490,000 young people have participated in Premier League Kicks football and multi-sport sessions held at community venues across England and Wales, during over 1 million hours of free sessions.

The programme started with four pilot clubs and is now run across more than 1,000 venues by 90 Premier League, English Football League and National League sides — all funded by the Premier League.

Kicks sits under the charity’s Healthy Communities pillar, which aims to connect people by creating healthy communities in safe, inclusive environments.
