City in the Community is delighted to have launched a new promotional video for their BTEC programme.

The short film features participants, teachers and CITC coaches, who all provide an insight into how BTEC and college sessions are making a difference in and around Manchester.

CITC’s BTEC programme aims to be totally inclusive, offering places to both male and female participants without trials.

CITC coaches deliver a holistic education of football, supporting those who want to develop their skills and abilities on the pitch as well as receiving classroom-based education as well.

The programme provides an opportunity for students who are passionate about football and their education, to combine the two as part of this course.

The curriculum provides students with an insight into what life would be like coaching in an academy session, through the way in which CITC staff deliver sessions.

One participant said: “I think it is amazing how we can combine the football course and the education. It really makes me look forward to coming to college knowing I am getting the qualification and having fun at the same time.

“You get lots of opportunities for your CV and that can really enhance your personal statement or portfolio, so when we do progress onto the next stage in our lives everything is laid out for us ready.”

Another added: “The coaches are really good. They praise you, as well as providing you with help and advice on how to improve, so you are constantly learning and developing.”

Head teacher Emma Soper said: “The programme is unique. It gives our students a real edge. By the time you finish the course you are a young person who stands out from the crowd, you have something unique to offer.”

Gary Lintern, Head of Faculty added: “Every day is a different highlight, from training on the pitch, to player appearances. You are not going to get that experience anywhere else.”

“You’ve got a world class club on your doorstep.”

The team currently delivers in four sixth form and colleges, Oldham College, Cheadle College, Ashton Sixth Form and Connell College.

Coaches are able to adapt their approach, the content and physical activity sessions in order to best meet the requirements of the college/group that they are working with.
