20 Primary School’s came together across three days to compete, connect, and celebrate the spirit of the game at the tournament, held at the City Football Academy.
Throughout the tournament, CITC followed St Wilfrid’s Primary School, a partner setting, who made it all the way to the quarter finals.
Mrs Young, PE Lead at St Wilfrid’s Primary School, spoke about the school’s experience at the tournament. She said: “The Premier League Primary Stars Tournament is a fantastic way for us to compete and connect with other schools through football, whilst also promoting physical activity, which is great.
“Our St Wilfrid’s team have really enjoyed the whole event, and we’ll definitely be back next year.”
The tournament is a flagship event designed to bring together schools from across Greater Manchester through the power of football.
Mark Donegan, CITC Primary Schools Officer, commented on the importance of the event, adding: “It has been amazing to see such a great number of our partner schools join us at the CFA Training Facility and display some top-quality football.
“The tournament has been fair, full of energy and as always full of smiling faces.
“Events like this are about far more than competition. They are about celebrating the community, inclusion, and opportunities, built on the belief that football has the power to change lives.”
The Premier League Primary Stars programme is delivered in CITC partner schools across Greater Manchester engaging pupils and teachers to help primary school children stay active.
During the sessions, the coaches deliver national curriculum PE lessons, extra-curricular activities, targeted interventions, educational workshops and more.
