The Water Education Project was inspired by this season’s Manchester City away kit, produced with a special Dope Dye manufacturing process to reduce water consumption in a unique partnership between Manchester City, PUMA and Xylem.
Over a six-week programme, CITC coaches engaged more than 1,500 children across 31 primary schools on water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), water sustainability and the importance of water conservation, using a bespoke football-based curriculum to educate and inspire children around water challenges and solutions.

The World Water Day festival saw children from three local primary schools visit City Football Academy for a morning of activities and workshops led by CITC coaches, Young Leaders and Xylem volunteers, before walking over to the Etihad Stadium to visit the Xylem Water Tower, an interactive installation designed to raise awareness of water issues.
Speaking about the water festival, Mr Ward, a teacher from one of the local primary schools in attendance, said: “The children were so excited to be coming here and they have absolutely loved it – being here, doing lots of exercise, learning a lot about water and having fun at the same time.”
This joint away kit initiative between Cityzens Giving, PUMA and Xylem is supporting projects in São Paulo, Mumbai, Buenos Aires and Manchester, and aims to reach 10,000 young people this season with vital water education and water access.
