This new disability school programme – One City Schools – represents CITC’s evolving commitment to empowering healthier lives through football, building on the success of the existing ‘One City’ programme and previous work in SEND settings.
The programme is delivered in a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment that encourages physical, social, and emotional development.
Through a combination of explorative play and carefully tailored activities, pupils are empowered to express themselves, develop key motor skills, and build positive relationships with their peers.
CITC’s experienced and specially trained coaches work collaboratively with school staff to design and deliver sessions that are fully adapted to each child’s individual needs and abilities.
This personalised approach ensures that every pupil is given the opportunity to thrive, with meaningful progress being made at their own pace.
The provision builds on CITC’s existing disability delivery across both its Outreach and Primary areas.
Primary and Disability Schools Manager, Lucy Gaskell-Milward said: “It is an exciting time for the Primary and Disability team, developing and delivering a specific disability school curriculum.
“Through our delivery we aim to engage and inspire children and young people with disabilities through inclusive physical activity.
“By using the power of sport, we aim to break down barriers, build confidence, and create positive experiences for every participant.”
