In Chengdu and the wider Sichuan province, children attending primary and middle schools have returned to in-person education, with new special measures in place to ensure the health and safety of every child.

As schools and the children adjust to these changes, the access and delivery of sport and physical education programmes must also adapt to continue safely promoting the health, development, and wellbeing of children.

This project is working with schools and teachers to ensure that physical education and sport continues to be a fundamental part of school life for children.

As part of the project, teachers from schools across Sichuan province have attended specialised training to learn how to deliver physical education and football safely. Alongside this, teachers are also receiving additional equipment to facilitate their sessions within schools. This is helping them to introduce all children to the idea of lifelong exercise and to lay a solid foundation of health and wellbeing, in a safe and structured manner.
