Pep Guardiola‘s travelling squad for last month’s Round of 16 tie at RB Leipzig had two very special guests.
Father and son Steve and Adam Williams were our Cityzens competition winners for the money-can’t-buy experience of joining City as we set off overseas.
Life-long City fan Steve first travelled abroad to watch his heroes in 1976 when Tony Book’s team lost 2-0 to Giovanni Trapattoni’s Juventus.
Guardiola‘s team earned a 1-1 draw on the night thanks to Riyad Mahrez‘s first-half finish. It was about more than just the 90 minutes for Steve and Adam though.
The trip began the day before the match with flights from Manchester to Germany before checking in to the team hotel in central Leipzig.
On matchday, the pair attended a pre-match performance analysis session with First Team Analysis Lead Harry Dunn before joining the police convoy from the hotel to the Red Bull Arena.
Upon arrival at the stadium, they took their seats in the away end with the thousands of loyal City fans also in attendance.
