Today marks 57 years since City’s memorable 1967/68 Division One title triumph, and to mark the anniversary we are taking a trip down memory lane…

Back on this very day in 1968, Joe Mercer’s City travelled to Newcastle level on points with Manchester United at the top of the table and needing a victory to claim the crown.

We went on to seal a dramatic 4-3 win over the Magpies and, in turn, secured what was our first top-flight league title since 1937.

A brace from Neil Young allied to goals from Mike Summerbee and Francis Lees ensured City claimed the crown in what served as the prelude to the start of a golden period in the Club’s history.
