Ahead of this weekend's trip to Stamford Bridge, we look back to a classic City away win at Chelsea.

After a third-placed finish in his first season, Pep Guardiola was hunting his maiden Premier League title in 2017/18.

An exceptional start to the season had seen us win five and draw one of our first six matches, including an emphatic 5-0 home win over Liverpool.

However, our trip to defending champions Chelsea in September 2017 was perhaps our toughest assignment of the whole campaign.

City were the better team throughout against Antonio Conte’s side and could easily have won by more than just the one goal.

However, just the one goal it was. And what a strike.

Bursting forward from midfield at the mid-point of the second half, Kevin De Bruyne unleashed a fierce left-footed strike that left the giant figure of Thibaut Courtois absolutely no chance in the Chelsea goal.

It sparked wild celebrations in the City end as it became clear what Guardiola‘s men could go on to achieve.

That season we became Centurions, setting a Premier League record for points, and winning the first of Guardiola‘s six Premier Leagues so far in the process.

A result that may well have been the catalyst for all the special memories we’ve had since.
