Highlights from our greatest ever league victory, which happened on this day in 1987.

34 years ago today, Manchester City put ten past Huddersfield in a Division Two match at Maine Road.

Neil McNab opened the scoring with a powerful left-footed drive, before Paul Stewart, David White and Tony Adcock completed the rout with a hat-trick apiece.

Former City man Andy May grabbed the visitors a consolation at 9-0, but it would do nothing to dampen the spirits of the Maine Road crowd, who witnessed a truly memorable performance from Mel Machin’s men.

Only Crystal Palace would score more than our 80 goals across that season’s Division Two campaign as City finished ninth in the table, before gaining promotion back to the top flight the following season.

Although we put 11 past Lincoln City in 1895, the result also remains our largest winning margin in a league fixture.
