"No Vinnie, no...!"

One year ago today: one of the most crucial and celebrated goals in Manchester City history.

Set the scene: the penultimate game of the Premier League season - three points essential in our quest for a second successive league crown. Leicester the challengers and the stakes could not have been higher.

Facing a stubborn Foxes defence, the Champions are unable to find a way through with time ticking away...

And then, the magic moment. Cometh the hour, cometh the captain.

When Vincent Kompany collected the ball 40 yards out, there looked to be little danger... but as the Belgian brought the ball forward, the visitors’ defence (seemingly unconcerned!) parted and an opportunity arose.

Taking another touch to set himself (and against the advice of his teammates), the skipper took matters into his own hands, smashing an absolute rocket past Kasper Schmeichel and into the top corner, sparking scenes of jubilation at the Etihad!

The noise was deafening. The goal which put the Premier League title firmly in City’s grasp...

Captain, leader, legend - the man for the big occasion - struck again!

What a man, and what a moment.
