Jovetic beat Alberto Moreno to a loose ball before lashing past Simon Mignolet for the game’s opener and double City’s advantage after the break when he slammed home Samir Nasri’s low centre.
Aguero put the result beyond doubt a minute after coming on for Edin Dzeko, latching onto Jesus Navas’ through ball and beating Mignolet at his near post, before the visitors netted a consolation when Pablo Zabaleta turned into his own net under pressure from Rickie Lambert.
