On this day 20 years ago, City recorded a famous win against Manchester United.

In what was the first-ever Manchester derby at the Etihad Stadium, Kevin Keegan’s side claimed the local bragging rights against the reigning Premier League champions.

Robbie Fowler handed us the perfect start on three minutes when the striker poked past Tim Howard from close range.

City then doubled our lead when Jon Macken swivelled inside the box and sent a volley flying into the bottom corner, before Paul Scholes handed the visitors hope with a 20-yard strike.

However, any nerves were settled when Trevor Sinclair reacted well to Mikael Silvestre’s error to regain our two-goal lead by lifting the ball into the net after half-time.

And Shaun Wright-Phillios rubber-stamped a phenomenal day at the Etihad when he unleashed an unstoppable strike in off the cross bar – sparking that infamous robot celebration!
