A look back at our thrilling Champions League victory over Bayern Munich in 2014...

Sergio Aguero scored a hat-trick as City kept our hopes of reaching the knockout stage alive with a dramatic late victory over the Bavarians.

Defeat would have left Manuel Pellegrini’s side needing a convincing win against Roma in the final group stage game to stand any chance of qualifying for the last 16, and it looked as if that would be the case until Aguero struck twice in the final five minutes to rescue the three points.

One of our most memorable Champions League games, it is also available to watch in full on CITY+.

Aguero gave City a dream start when he opened the scoring in the 21st minute, converting a penalty he won after Medhi Benatia was sent off for scything him down.

However, Bayern turned the game on its head before half-time thanks to a Xabi Alonso free-kick and a header from Robert Lewandowski, which looked to have wrapped up the points until the Argentine striker’s timely intervention.

City’s No.10 capitalised on Alonso’s misplaced pass and raced clear of the visitors’ defence before slotting an equaliser past Manuel Neuer and, with seconds remaining, he sparked wild celebrations as he fired home after Jerome Boateng failed to deal with Stevan Jovetic’s flick on.

Aguero’s last-ditch heroics secured our first win in that season’s group stage and left Pellegrini’s side needing to better CSKA Moscow’s result against Bayern in the final game, which they duly did with a 2-0 win over Roma the following month.
