Check out our classic highlights montage from February 2015 as City proved too hot to handle for Newcastle United in a comfortable, comprehensive 5-0 victory at the Etihad

It’s fair to say it was a breathless opening spell that saw the champions out of sight with barely 20 minutes on the clock.

After winning a penalty within the first 30 seconds which was converted by Sergio Aguero, the Blues tore the Magpies apart with a two added goals from Samir Nasri and Edin Dzeko as Manuel Pellegrini’s side ended a run of three home games without a win.

Yaya Toure – back from the African Cup of Nations – returned while Dzeko earned a recall to the starting line-up with new signing Wilfried Bony having to make do with a place on the bench.

In the second half, within the blink of an eye, our three-goal cushion had become five with David Silva on target twice in two minutes.

The first was the result of a devastating burst forward by Sergio Aguero who raced 60 yards before sliding the ball to Nasri who, in turn, fed Silva on the penalty spot and the Spaniard tucked home with ease.

Two minutes later and City were out of sight as Toure played a deft chip forward to Aguero and his pass was instantly volleyed home by Silva from 18 yards to send the home support into raptures.
