On this day in 2008, City secured a memorable derby win on a day where Manchester came together.

The fixture fell on the 50th anniversary of the Munich Air Disaster, an occasion that brought both red and sky blue together in unison, uniting a city known for its footballing rivalry.

A beautifully observed minutes silence in memory of the 23, eight of which Manchester United players, who died in the disaster on 6 February 1958 preceded kick-off - before Sven-Goran Eriksson’s produced a fine display at Old Trafford.
