On this day in 2011, City set down a marker en route to our maiden Premier League crown thanks to magic from Edin Dzeko's.

Roberto Mancini’s side travelled to Tottenham in August 2011 looking to maintain our 100 percent start to the campaign.

And we did just that with a side inspired by the Bosnia and Herzegovina international who phenomenally scored four goals.

The mercurial striker netted his first at White Hart Lane when he lost his marker and prodded home Samir Nasri’s cross, which Brad Freidel couldn’t keep out.

On the cusp of half-time, an electric counter attack saw the same pair combine again as the Frenchmen whipped another ball into the box which Dzeko powerfully headed home.

It would take the now 36-year-old only 10 minutes after the interval to grab his hattrick - when Yaya Toure drilled a low ball into the box before the former showed his poacher’s instinct to poke home.

Sergio Aguero got in on the act to make three goals four – prior to Harry Redknapp’s side pulling a goal back through Younes Kaboul.

But our four-goal lead would be restored thanks to Dzeko’s brilliance when played a neat one-two with Nasri before unleashing a venomous curling effort into the top corner.

The success was undoubtedly a statement of intent as we would go on to win our maiden Premier League crown at the end of the season.
