On this day in 2013 Manchester City kicked off our Champions League campaign with a convincing 3-0 away win over Viktoria Plzen.

Edin Dzeko, Yaya Toure and Sergio Aguero were all on target for Manuel Pellegrini’s side, with the Ivorian curling a sensational 25-yard effort into the top corner.

Whilst it ended up being a comfortable victory, it was not until the 48th that City broke the deadlock.

Dzeko, who spurned a good chance in the first half, was picked out by Aguero and calmly converted from inside the box shortly before Toure fired home a trademark thunderbolt.

Aguero completed the scoring with a smart turn and finish to complete a good night’s work for the visitors.
