Pep Guardiola’s side travel to the London Stadium on Saturday 31 August for a 17:30 (UK) kick-off, aiming to extend our winning start to the campaign to three straight matches.
But on our trip to the Irons in 2007, it was debut delight for two members of the late, great Sven-Goran Eriksson new-look side as we began the season with a convincing victory.
The former England manager arrived at the Etihad Stadium helm ahead of the 2007/08 term and attracted a swathe of exciting overseas talent to the Club before presiding over a campaign which provided plenty of memorable moments.
That started with a win over West Ham at the old Upton Park where goals from new boys Rolando Bianchi and Geovanni helped us to a 2-0 success.
