Cole Palmer has spoken of his pride and excitement at making his Champions League debut.

The youngster replaced Kevin De Bruyne after 82 minutes of our 3-0 win in Marseille on Tuesday evening, just four weeks after making his first-team debut in our EFL Cup win away at Burnley.

It’s been a wonderful period for Palmer, one of the Academy’s most promising players, and in the aftermath of his European debut, he thanked Pep Guardiola for the faith he has shown and dedicated his appearance to his friend Jeremy Wisten, who passed away at the weekend.

“It was a proud moment again for me and my family,” he said. “It’s a dream come true. I want to thank Pep and everyone at the club and dedicate my debut to my friend who passed away the other day.

“Obviously, it’s the biggest competition in the world – the Champions League – and I am just glad to have made my debut and get the three points.”
