City Studios are set to release a new feature-length film, profiling the brilliant career of Txiki Begiristain.

He has officially departed his role as Director of Football at Manchester City following 13 incredible years at the Club with Hugo Viana taking over the role full-time.

Released this September on CITY+, A Farewell To Txiki takes a look at a fabulous player who went on to become one of the greatest directors of football the game has ever seen.

The former Spain international joined City in 2012 and has been a major part of a remarkable trophy-laden period at the Etihad Stadium.

Under his watch, City have won 21 major trophies, including seven Premier League titles, two FA Cups, one Champions League, one FIFA Club World Cup and one UEFA Super Cup.

For the film, we have spoken to Txiki’s colleagues at City and friends and family to get their thoughts on what has made him such a success and why he is held in such high esteem.

And with full coverage of City’s preseason clash with Palermo live on CITY+, it’s a great time to be a subscriber.

Begiristain’s achievements will be celebrated with a number of events in his honour surrounding the Manchester derby in September, including a fan screening event at the City Football Academy when Official Members and Season Ticket Members will have the chance to get a first look at the new film.
