Whilst football is suspended, we want to stay connected with our fans and help you stay active and healthy during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Food is particularly important to that, so, first team nutritionist Tom Parry has worked with Manchester City’s Official Partner Gatorade to share a series of healthy recipes for you to make at home.

In the latest instalment, first team sous chef Jorge Gutierrez is in the kitchen to provide a step by step guide to make the perfect Spanish omelette, a great post-work out meal which helps carbohydrates and proteins.

Ingredients

  • 5kg potato
  • 5 eggs
  • 2 onions
  • Salt
  • Olive oil

Method

Step 1

Dice potato, cover with 1tbsp of olive oil and spread them onto a baking tray.

Cook for 20 minutes at 200 degrees Celsius or at gas mark six.

Step 2

Peel the onion and chop in half and then half again before chopping into very fine slices.

Caramelising the onions will bring out the deep, rich and sweet flavour. Add one tbsp of olive of olive oil to your pan. Begin with a high temperature and as the onions begin to brown, bring the temperature down.

Step 3

Whisk the eggs and add the potato and caramelised onion.

Mix well and season with salt.

Step 4

Add some olive oil to the pan

Step 5

Add the mixed eggs, potato and caramelised onion.

Turn the heat down – the outside of the omelette should now be sealed.

Step 6

Turn the omelette quickly, but not too fast.

Step 7

Repeat cooking on the other side at a low temperature.

Step 8

With both sides sealed, turn again and cook the inside.

Step 9

Flip onto your plat and enjoy!
