David Silva, one of City's greatest-ever players, joined the Club on this day in 2010 from Valencia.

An astonishing 436 appearances and a decade of stellar service would follow, with the midfielder winning every available domestic honour for City, including our inaugural Premier League title in 2012.

The Spaniard joined the Club fresh off the back of his home nation’s historic 2010 World Cup triumph and, inside his first season, had helped Roberto Mancini’s side lift our first major trophy in 35 years in the form of the FA Cup.

Over the next ten years, El Mago would continue to forge his reputation as one of the finest technicians in English football, lifting four Premier League titles, one further FA Cup, five League Cups and three Community Shields.

Silva also took on the captain’s armband following Vincent Kompany’s departure in 2019, demonstrating astute leadership qualities to complement his on-pitch flair.

Calling time on his City career in August 2020 to join Real Sociedad, the midfielder’s contribution to an historic decade for the Club will be honoured in the form of a statue at the Etihad Stadium.

By way of celebrating one of the great City careers, CityTV have compiled 21 of El Mago’s finest moments in Sky Blue.
