Silva and fellow former captain Vincent Kompany’s exploits for the Club are to be rewarded ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League visit on Saturday 28 August.
Like Kompany, our former midfielder was part of the City squad to win our first major piece of silverware in 35 years when we beat Stoke by a single goal in the 2011 FA Cup final.
Twelve months later, El Mago was once again an essential cog in Roberto Mancini’s side as we ended a 44-year wait for a top flight title in the most dramatic of circumstances.
The midfielder would go on to win every domestic honour with Manchester City, including a further three Premier League titles, as well as taking on the captain’s armband following the departure of Kompany in 2019.
