Jeremy Doku has emphasised the important of being patient following our vital 3-0 Premier League victory over Brentford.

Player of the Match Doku curled us ahead on the hour mark to break Brentford’s defensive resolve, before Erling Haaland flicked in a second.

Omar Marmoush expertly finished a third late on to secure all three points, taking us two points behind league-leaders Arsenal, who travel to face West Ham on Sunday.

Pep Guardiola’s men were denied an opener on multiple occasions in the opening 60 minutes by a series of impressive blocks and saves by the Bees, but Doku admitted being patient was the perfect solution to breach the visitors’ backline.

“The key is to be patient, yeah,” he stated in his interview with City Studios. Especially, in the second half it’s still 0-0.

“You’re like okay guys, at one point you need to score now. But we kept on doing what we were doing. We didn’t change the way we played. We didn’t over exaggerate things. We were calm.

“I think Bernie also played a huge part in that, keeping the head cool. Afterwards we scored goals and that’s good.

“Being patient, not getting nervous [was key]. Not doing things out of feelings. Just being patient and continuing to have confidence in what we were doing.”

The winger also spoke about the importance of the victory, reflected on his stunning goal and also answered some questions from City in the Community’s Josh on our CITC takeover day.
