After a pretty uneventful first 45 minutes, we sparked into life six minutes after the interval as Nico O’Reilly rose high to head us ahead.
Marc Guéhi swiftly doubled our advantage before Doku drilled in our third in a relentless second-half display from Pep Guardiola’s men.
The win takes us six points behind league-leaders Arsenal, who we face at the Etihad Stadium next Sunday, as well as having a game in hand over the Gunners.
GUÉHI: ‘EVERYONE DID THEIR JOB AGAINST CHELSEA’
In an interview with City Studios after the game, Doku made it clear that the team are well aware that our league fate is in our own hands.
“Obviously, three points here, in a tough game, we did very well. We needed those three points,” he began.
“So we’re just going to keep on going, keep on going. We know that we still have everything in our hands. We’re going to recover well and we look forward to the game on Sunday.
“Coming here is not easy, playing here against Chelsea in their stadium is not easy. We just had to keep on going.
“We adapted our pressing a bit and more runs in behind, that opens more spaces. The way we started the second half also put a lot of pressure on them. In those moments when you can score it helps a lot.”
Doku also reserved praise for fellow goalscorers O’Reilly and Guéhi, and spoke about how he felt after also getting on the scoresheet.
