Ederson praised Manchester City's mentality after the Premier League leaders bounced back from last weekend's defeat to Tottenham Hotspur with victory over Everton.

City were made to work hard for the three points at Goodison Park, with Phil Foden‘s 82nd minute strike settling a hard-fought contest with the determined Toffees.

Pep Guardiola‘s men had seen numerous chances go begging thanks to an impressive performance from Jordan Pickford and Ederson was pleased with the character City showed to seal what he believed was a deserved victory.

“We showed our strong mentality,” he told mancity.com.

“After a defeat, it is always difficult to bounce back because it feels like we are forced to win again, so we stepped on the pitch with the mentality to try and win.

“Against Tottenham, we could’ve won even though we didn’t, we created a lot of chances but that is part of football.

“Today I think we, overall were not the best in the first half but in the second half, we were much better and deserved to win in the end.”
