It has been a year to remember for England and Lancashire cricket star – and huge City fan - Phil Salt.

As well as helping England seal T20 World Cup glory in the final against Pakistan in November, Salt also sealed a dream move to Lancashire earlier this year – and celebrated City’s fourth Premier League title in five years back in May.

Now, as we approach the end of 2022, the 26-year-old sat down with mancity.com to talk about both cricket and his passion for City.

Salt reveals his long-standing family connections to the Club, as well as the origin behind why he wears the 61 shirt number for both England and Lancashire

Having attended his first game at Maine Road against Sheffield United back in 2001, Salt also reveals his favourite City memories and who were his iconic Club heroes when growing up.

Phil also lifts the lid on how he manages to keep tabs on our progress whilst out on the field both in England and when on duty around the world in far flung countries such as Australia, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

And he touches on the similarities between the England team’s aggressive mindset and Pep Guardiola’s positive, entertaining approach to football - as well as revealing which City player he thinks would be a smash hit as a cricketer!
