Enzo Maresca says City can take plenty from Saturday’s defeat to Aston Villa.

Nicolas Jackson’s brace either side of Erling Haaland’s second-half header consigned us to our first Premier League loss of the season in our eighth outing.

However, we’ll remain top of the table over the weekend having already been to Champions League qualifiers in Manchester United, Liverpool and Villa in the opening games of the season.

Aston Villa 2-1 City | Match report

While Maresca was inevitably disappointed to lose, he told City Studios that City can learn from the game.

“For sure, we deserve something more from the game. We created enough chances to score more goals,” he began.

“Unfortunately we concede just one shot in the second half and they score. Hopefully we can learn from that and try to move on.

“In this kind of stadium, you always have to be ready. We concede the first goal from a mistake and then after that we control the game, especially the second half.

“We fought until the end and that was very good. The spirit was good, we can take something from that and we’ll move on.”
