Enzo Maresca says his only target at the moment is to be in the hunt for silverware at the end of the season.

The new Manchester City boss takes charge of his first game at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday when we face Bournemouth at 14:00 (UK).

After becoming the first Club in the history of men’s English football to win four successive top-flight titles, we have missed out on winning the Premier League in the last two seasons.

City have become used to collecting trophies, having won 20 in the last decade.

But with so many twists and turns through a long season, Maresca says his side will work hard to be in contention for more silverware at the end of the season.

“At the beginning of the season you don’t set targets in terms of trophies,” he said.

“The target since day one has been quite clear with the club and the players, it’s to compete. You arrive in March and April to be there and then we will see what happens.”
