Erling Haaland says City will not underestimate their opponents in the two finals that will finish our campaign.

City face Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley on June 3 followed by Inter in the Champions League final seven days later.

Much has been made of United’s desire to stop City replicating their Treble, but Haaland believes their focus will be on lifting the trophy themselves.

“They’re going to want to do everything they can to not make us win this final,” he said at the awards night after being named the 2023 Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year.

“It’s a final and it is its own thing and we have to play at our best to have a chance there.”

Many also see Pep Guardiola’s side as favourites for the Champions League but Haaland says the focus will be on playing the football that has already landed him his first Premier League winners’ medal.

“There’s two finals left and we have to still stay focused even though we won the Premier League we have to stay focused to achieve what we can achieve in the next two finals,” he added.

“It’s a good thing being favourites because that means we have qualities. We have to attack the game in our way and try to play our football and in the end we’ll see who wins it.”
