Erling Haaland expressed his personal pride in helping Manchester City to a historic 2022/23 campaign after he was named PFA Player’s Player of the Year.

The Norwegian found the net an astonishing 52 times in his debut campaign at the Etihad Stadium, 36 of which came in just 35 league appearances.

In doing so, he broke a 28-year record for goals across a Premier League season, as well as the most strikes for City in all competitions, surpassing Tommy Johnson’s haul from 1928/29.

It was a remarkable return for Haaland, who was also included alongside four of his City team-mates in the PFA Premier League Team of the Season, while three members of Gareth Taylor’s squad also made the cut in the Barclays Women’s Super League equivalent on a fantastic night for the Club.

A maiden season to remember was capped off by Pep Guardiola’s men claiming the Treble, and our number nine is privileged to have played a significant role in that success.

“Of course, it’s nice and it’s a big honour for me to win this,” the Norwegian reflected on being named PFA Player of the Year.

“I have to thank my team-mates, the training team and the whole staff for making it possible. Without them it wouldn’t be possible so a big shout out to them.

“It’s an honour to be a part of that and to be a part of making this history as we did last year with winning the Treble. I’m really proud and happy.

“We have to keep building on this to keep getting that quality into this season as well.”
