To mark International Day of Families (on May 15th), Manchester City’s Erling Haaland attended a City in the Community (CITC) City Play Together session.

At the session, Haaland transformed into a pirate during a game where young participants were required to sneak up on the City striker and take his treasure of footballs.

Commenting on the sessions, one family said: “It is good for young children to have opportunity to play and be active in safe space.”

CITC’s City Play Together programme supports two- to five-year-olds across Greater Manchester, with the aim to help get families and their children to take part in physical activity together.

Current sessions are being delivered in Youth Zones and SureStart Centres across Manchester.

Carl Burke, Early Years Officer, said: “The City Play Together special event at the CFA was fantastic.

“The participants that came on the day were some of our youngest participants and despite the poor weather were fully engaged by the coaches for almost two hours and still had so much enthusiasm to play and learn.

“Having a surprise visit from Erling was fun for the children and their parents too and definitely left a nice lasting impression.”

Attendance for some of the above sessions are dependent upon participants home postcodes.
