At his Friday pre-match press conference, the boss responded to a suggestion that some pundits and journalists believed the young French star was a different type of footballer or ‘not a Guardiola player’ – compared to the many talents Pep has managed over the years.
But the Catalan was quick to scoff at the question – confirming Cherki is exactly the sort of player he enjoys having in his team.
“What is my typical player?” asked Pep.
“I don’t have typical players. It’s not bad in his first season what he is doing. I don’t believe in that.
“At Barcelona we had good players that were strong. Of course he can play, all the players I have here are my type of players.
“On Instagram right now, [Cherki] is boxing. He’s scary!”
