Rodrigo is the best footballer on the planet.

That’s the opinion of journalists from FIFA’s 100 top-ranking nations, who voted our midfielder to be the winner of the 2024 Ballon d’Or.

He is the first City player ever to claim the iconic prize as well as being the first Spanish man to do so since 1960 and Premier League since 2008.

After incredible growth on and off the pitch under Pep Guardiola since joining City in 2019, the metronome has become a pivotal part of many of our successes in recent years.

Rodrigo becomes first City player to win Ballon d’Or

He has claimed a total of 11 major honours in sky blue - including the historic Big Five achievement in 2023 that saw us claim the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup trophies.

It was Rodrigo‘s winning goal in the 2023 Champions League final that will live on forever for City fans, while he was also the Player of the Tournament as we became World Champions in Saudi Arabia last December.

This success comes from his form in 2023/24, when he was the driving force behind our record breaking fourth successive Premier League title as well as Spain’s Euro 2024 triumph.
