Fernandinho made it a Christmas to remember for a nine-year-old Manchester City fan who is recovering from heart surgery during the festive period.

The Club captain surprised football obsessed Adam on a video call to reveal the youngster will be invited to be a mascot at the Etihad Stadium once it is safe for fans to return.

Fernandinho also arranged for a selection of Christmas presents to be delivered to Adam’s house during the call, including a signed shirt, the 2020/21 away kit and host of other City goodies.

The surprise was a welcome festive treat for the local fan, who has endured a difficult six months due to suffering with the heart condition, SVT, which forced him to spend time in intensive care at birth.

He has since been required to take medication to keep his heart beating at a normal rhythm, but six months ago, the medication stopped working and Adam was in and out of hospital before it was decided he needed an operation to fix the issue.

He underwent three hours of surgery in November, which proved successful, though it will take him 12-months to fully recover, which prevents him from playing football.

Adam thought he was calling his doctor, but was surprised when Fernandinho appeared to lift his spirits.
