City were spurred on by the prospect of writing our names in the record books against Newcastle, according to Ferran Torres.

Our thrilling 4-3 triumph, helped by the winger’s first hat-trick for the Club, secured a record 12th successive league victory on the road.

It’s another phenomenal feat, and one that surpasses anything previously achieved away from home in England’s top four divisions.

Torres revealed that the players were aware of the potential milestone, and it provided them with an added boost in their quest to get the better of Newcastle.

“When we faced this game we knew we could make history as the team with most wins away,” he reflected.

“It was good motivation for us, the team pulled together in the good and the bad moments and that’s why we ended up like that.”

At just 21, the winger is still learning his craft, but he has nonetheless enjoyed an impressive debut campaign since moving to City from Valencia last summer.

Torres agreed that he has got to grips relatively well with the rigours of English football but also insists that his best is yet to come.

He said: “It’s been a season of learning for me, the Premier League is a very different competition from what I was used to, it’s very physical.

“But I think I have adapted very well and I keep improving every day.”
