Phil Foden has highlighted the reasons behind his sparkling form after his treble inspired City to a 3-1 Premier League victory over Brentford.

Neal Maupay slotted the hosts ahead after 21 minutes, before Foden levelled seconds before the interval.

The Englishman the headed us ahead eight minutes after the break and then secured his hat-trick with an assured finish after 70 minutes.

The 23-year-old now has 14 goals and nine assists in all competitions this term and revealed what he believes is the key behind his remarkable form.

“Probably playing with fantastic players to be fair, and wanting to score, wanting to get into the box,” he said.

“So yeah, I think a mix of both of them is why I’m scoring. I’m delighted to have got the goal just before half-time.

“I think it gives you a little bit of momentum going into the second half so yeah, I’m delighted with that goal.”

The Academy graduate also spoke about the challenges that Brentford posed, touched on the team’s resilience and offered his verdict on the current title race.
